Are you looking for a roadmap?

As the founder of a growing nonprofit or the Chief Executive of an established organization, running a nonprofit, partnering with the board of directors, and meeting community needs can be overwhelming.  Sustainability is top of mind more often than you would like.  Having a roadmap of best practices to create a new or to strengthen an existing infrastructure that addresses stewardship, leadership, and operations can be the solution your organization needs.

Standards for Excellence® in the Nonprofit Sector

Powered by The Standards for Excellence Institute®

Encouraging excellence and integrity in nonprofit management.

The Standards for Excellence®: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector (the code) is the centerpiece of the Standards for Excellence® program. The standards evaluate principles of honesty, integrity, fairness, respect, trust, responsibility, and accountability in nonprofit program operations, governance, human resources, financial management, and fundraising.

The standards set a high benchmark. They go well-beyond the minimum legal requirements by outlining how well-managed and responsibly governed nonprofits should operate.

The Standards cover six areas of nonprofit governance, operations, and management:

  • Mission, Strategy and Evaluation

  • Leadership: Board, Staff, and Volunteers

  • Legal Compliance and Ethics

  • Finance and Operations

  • Resource Development

  • Public Awareness, Engagement and Advocacy

As a Standards for Excellence® Licensed Consultant,
